This work aimed to evaluate whether the APAC method makes it possible to achieve justice for John Rawls, within the scope of the prison system in Brazil. As a methodology, bibliographical research was used, with information collected in philosophy books, jurisprudence and data relating to the number of recidivism. Historically, the application of criminal sanctions in the country has been marked by cruel and inhumane methods, resulting in violations of human dignity. After Independence, criminal laws began to incorporate Enlightenment ideas into criminal law, highlighting the protection of human dignity as a function of the State. However, criminal practice in Brazil has often neglected these ideals, leading to violations of fundamental rights in the prison system. Faced with these violations, the work debates an alternative policy to implement humanitarian and social justice principles, the APAC methodology. As results, the research highlighted the effectiveness of this approach in promoting equity and respecting the human dignity of prisoners, fulfilling the dictates of social justice proposed by John Rawls.
No entanto, a prática penal no Brasil muitas vezes negligenciou esses ideais, levando a violações dos direitos fundamentais no sistema prisional.
