Este ensayo presento algunos trazos de mi trayectoria personal como un historiador que tuvo su formación de base en Chile, pero que hizo lo esencial de su carrera y de su producción en Canadá, influido por otros contextos. La primera parte es dedicada a mi etapa chilena; la segunda, a mis experiencias en la historia oral de la militancia en la izquierda chilena y la historia de la inmigración; la tercera a mi trabajo sobre historia del vino chileno; y la cuarta, a mi experiencia de enseñar y escribir sobre historia de América Latina.
This essay presents some traces of my personal trajectory as a historian who has had his basic formation in Chile, but who made the essentials of his career and his production in Canada, influenced by other contexts. The first part is dedicated to my Chilean stage; the second, to my experiences in the oral history of militancy in the Chilean left and the history of immigration; the third to my work on the history of Chilean wine; and the fourth, to my experience of teaching and writing about Latin American history.
