Dormitator latifronses un pez con potencial de cultivo que se distribuye en la vertiente del Pacífico desde California hasta Perú. Existe información escasa sobre su fisiología, y cultivo. Se evaluó el efecto de la inclusión de la levadura Saccharomyces cerevisiae sobre el crecimiento, supervivencia, hematocrito y estallido respiratorio en D. latifrons. Se prepararon tres dietas experimentales con 1, 3 y 5% de levadura más un testigo negativo. Se utilizaron 120 juveniles de D. latifrons (9 ± 1 cm y 9 ± 1.5g), distribuidos en 12 estanques de 400 L, con tres replicas por tratamiento y duración de ocho semanas. Se realizaron tres biometrías y toma de muestras sanguíneas cada dos semanas. La inclusión de S. cerevisiae no tuvo efectos negativos en el crecimiento y el estado de salud de D. latifrons. Lo que sugiere evaluar más niveles de inclusión.
Dormitator latifronsis a fish with aquaculture potential distributed along the Pacific slope from California to Peru. However, information on its physiology and culture is scarce. This study evaluated the effect of dietary inclusion of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiaeon growth, survival, hematocrit, and respiratory burst in D. latifrons. Three experimental diets were prepared with 1, 3, and 5% yeast, in addition to a negative control. A total of 120 juveniles of D. latifrons9 ± 1 cm and 9 ± 1.5 g were distributed in 12 tanks of 400 L, with three replicates per treatment, for eight weeks. Three biometries were performed, and blood samples were collected every two weeks. The inclusion of S. cerevisiaedid not have negative effects on the growth or health status of D. latifrons. These results suggest the possibility of evaluating additional inclusion levels.
