Member States of the EU must develop certain aspects related to the commercialization and use of AI systems laid down by the Regulation (EU) 1689/2024, of 13 June. This article briefly exposes the content of the Bill promoted by the Spanish Government to that end, focusing on the future regulation of the procedure to authorize the use of real-time remote biometric identification systems in publicly accessible spaces for the purposes of law enforcement, as well as the appointment of the Spanish Data Protection Agency as market surveillance authority regarding the use of such AI systems.
