The text examines the relationship between constitutionalism and imagery, focusing on photography as a medium of political representation. From a legal perspective, images are connected to the right to one’s own image, freedom of artistic creation, or copyright, will be specifically addressed as a medium reflecting constitutional values. Historically, images related with constitutionalism were large commemorative paintings, but by the early 20th century photography became the dominant medium, enabling the documentation of the formation of a parliamentary regime and a constituent process such as that of the Second Republic. In the case of the 1931 Spanish Constitution, photography is linked to the constitutional order both in a symbolic and in a merely documentary sense. Any political image conveys constitutional values in some way, although the author’s subjectivity and the specific historical context cannot be overlooked
