The constitutional reform “on organic simplification” of December 20, 2024, dissolved the INAI (National Institute of Information and Data Protection) and, in its transitional articles, determined that this action would be replicated in the fed-eral entities. The dissolution of the Michoacán Institute for Transparency, Access to Information, and Personal Data Protection (IMAIP) through Decree 108, reforming the Political Constitution of Michoacán on April 3, 2025, eliminates the specialized insti-tutional framework that operated for almost a decade in Michoacán. This paper ana-lyzes the institutional transformations resulting from this dissolution, which reflects the national trend toward the disaggregation of authorities responsible for transpar-ency and personal data protection.Through an analysis of the liquidation process and constitutional reforms, the elimination of the institutional model based on constitutional autonomy, impartiality, technical specialization, and collegial structure is documented. The main objective is to analyze how the dissolution eliminates a specialized autonomous institutional mod-el, redistributing powers among internal oversight bodies with general administrative functions. This represents a transformation in the local institutional architecture for the protection of the constitutional right to information. The research uses a systematic comparative analysis of institutional elements, based on official normative sources: the Constitution of the State of Michoacán, De-crees of the State Congress, and the Liquidation Bases of the IMAIP. The findings show that institutional fragmentation eliminates specific guarantees of autonomy and technical specialization, redistributing responsibilities among multiple bodies without clear coordination mechanisms. The dissolution of the IMAIP constitutes a local embodiment of the reconfigura-tion of the national transparency system, providing empirical evidence on the im-plications of eliminating specialized institutional framework developed over years of operation. The documented changes fundamentally modify the mechanisms for protecting the right of access to information in Michoacán.
