En este artículo se revisaron algunos significados etimológicos y conceptuales de ética y moral, donde se destacó la importancia del primer significado para iniciar todo tipo de investigación y, a nivel conceptual, se puso en evidencia la importancia del consenso dentro de una comunidad moral determinada para aceptar una u otra definición dentro de las plétoras de posibilidades que se presentan para admitir un concepto examinado. Asimismo, en el examen sobre el uso del lenguaje ético existente en las diferentes comunidades morales, se destaca el uso indistinto, diverso y poco reflexivo que se les da, lo cual pondría encima del tapete la arbitrariedad y relatividad de los consensos alcanzados.
In this article, some etymological and conceptual meanings of ethics and morality were reviewed, where the importance of the first meaning to initiate all types of research was highlighted and, at a conceptual level, the importance of consensus within a specific moral community was highlighted for accept one or another definition within the plethora of possibilities that are presented to admit a concept examined. Likewise, in the examination of the use of existing ethical language in the different moral communities, the indistinct, diverse and unreflective use given to them stands out, which would bring to the fore the arbitrariness and relativity of the consensuses reached.
