It analyzes the socio-spatial transformations of Vicuña Mackenna Avenue in the Santiago Metropolitan Region, illustrating how the neoliberal reforms of the Pinochet dictatorship—initiated in 1973—impacted social relations and urban space. Using an innovative methodology, the study gathered testimonies from key figures associated with the industrial belts of the 1970s and from people experiencing homelessness, contrasting the class solidarity of the Allende era with current dynamics of fragmentation and exclusion.
