In this paper, we analyze Secondary Education Center No. 248, created through agreements signed between the Army Non- Commissioned Officers' Circle and the National Directorate of Adult Education.
Secondary education experiences for members of the Armed Forces during the post-dictatorship period promoted civic education. The incorporation of non-commissioned officers into the CENS (Secondary Education Center) is part of a process undertaken by the military sector to adapt to the democratic context. In this study, we seek to describe the institution in order to observe the democratization of non-commissioned officers' practices.
The paper is organized into three sections: the first addresses the opening of the center, the second examines the school culture, and the third studies the perceptions of non-commissioned officers regarding democratization. To this end, we will analyze the agreements for the opening of the institution and the interviews conducted with students, teachers, administrators, and members of the Armed Forces.
