This article analyzes how the emergence of HIV/AIDS redefined the activist trajectories of the Comunidad Homosexual Argentina (CHA) between 1985 and 1991. Drawing on archival sources and interviews, it reconstructs an initial period marked by biomedical uncertainty and a lack of strategic consensus. A mass testing initiative carried out in 1987 with the Centro de Educación, Terapia e Investigación en Sexualidad (CETIS) sparked internal tensions: confidentiality issues, disagreements on how to address the disease, and the impact of numerous positive diagnoses led to a deep institutional crisis. This gave rise to the STOP SIDA campaign, which promoted new care practices centered on the eroticization of condom use. The article examines its prevention area, the materials produced, their circulation, and overall reach. Far from moral panic or sexual restriction, CHA developed an affirmative discourse on desire and sexuality, the so-called “creative sex,” thus actively participating in local debates on safe sex.actively engaging in local debates on “safe sex.”
