This note comments on the chronicle “Perro gris” from the collection Los hijos de Goni by Bolivian author Quya Reyna. The article proposes a reading focusing on the role of the abject, suggesting that the chronicle narrates the collapse of the subject/object relationship, and that, in doing so, it touches on a contemporary experience that goes beyond the city of El Alto where the narration takes place. In other words, I propose that, yes, it is a work about a particular city, but that it also diagnoses a more universal contemporary condition.
