Este artículo busca caracterizar la sociología de la ciencia de Pierre Bourdieu y ofrece un análisis a partir de sus postulados ontológicos y epistemológicos. El texto se organiza en cuatro secciones. En primer lugar, se examina la posición de Bourdieu en el campo sociológico contemporáneo y las influencias intelectuales que configuraron su trayectoria teórica, desde la tradición epistemológica francesa hasta el estructuralismo. En segundo lugar, se reconstruyen los componentes centrales de su propuesta (campo, capital y habitus) que conforman la base de su teoría de la práctica. En tercer lugar, se presenta su sociología de la ciencia mediante el estudio del campo científico y de las formas de capital en disputa. Finalmente, se analiza su teoría desde los conceptos de ontología y epistemología, introduciendo una discusión explícita sobre la manera en que se comprenden estos términos en el marco del artículo. El trabajo sostiene que la teoría de Bourdieu implica un realismo estructuralista en la ontología social y un constructivismo moderado en la epistemología.
This article aims to characterize Pierre Bourdieu’s sociology of science and to analyse it through his ontological and epistemological commitments. The text is organized into four sections. First, it examines Bourdieu’s position within contemporary sociology and the intellectual influences that shaped his theoretical trajectory, from the French epistemological tradition to structuralism. Second, it reconstructs the central components of his framework (field, habitus and capital) which constitute the architecture of his theory of practice. Third, it presents his sociology of science by analysing the scientific field and the forms of capital at stake. Finally, it examines his theory through the concepts of ontology and epistemology, introducing an explicit discussion on how these terms are understood within the article. The paper argues that Bourdieu’s theory entails a form of structuralist realism at the level of social ontology and a moderate constructivism at the epistemological level.
