Los certificados de ahorro energético, también conocidos como «certificados blancos», son un instrumento de política energética que viene a revolucionarla en tanto que, al asignar un valor monetario al ahorro energético, proporcionan a los agentes económicos incentivos para la actuación en medidas de eficiencia energética, haciendo así realidad el principio informador que la prioriza. En España, y en el contexto de los ambiciosos objetivos energéticos y climáticos de la Unión Europea (UE), es relativamente reciente la creación e impulso de un sistema de Certificados de Ahorro Energético (CAE) que, en sus arranques, está generando grandes expectativas y oportunidades
Energy saving certificates, also known as “white certificates”, are an energy policy instrument that is revolutionizing the sector. By assigning a monetary value to energy savings, they provide economic agents with incentives to implement energy efficiency measures, thus putting into practice the guiding principle that prioritizes them. In Spain, and in the context of the EU’s ambitious energy and climate targets, the creation and promotion of an Energy Saving Certificate (ESC) system is relatively recent and, in its early stages, is generating high expectations and opportunities.
