El presente artículo destaca la labor realizada por el maestro benigno Orbegozo en la formación de una generación de intelectuales de la ciudad de Pasto , a través del trabajo realizado como pedagogo y creador de dos herramientas fundamentales para la formación de los jóvenes de la época: la escuela literaria y el periódico El Precursor Los ámbitos en los cuales se considera fundamental su labor como educador fueron: la concreción de nuevas formas educativas, alternas a la educación formal, la introducción de una nueva visión de ciudad y de región y el impulso del arte y de la sensibilidad estética en la confrontación del nuevo hombre.
The present article highlights the work carried out by the teacher Benigno Orbegozo in the formation of a generation of intellectuals in the city of Pasto, through his profession as a pedagogue. For the formation of young people he used two tools of the utmost importance in the time: the Literary School and the newspaper El Precursor. The areas in which his work as an educator are considered fundamental were, the introduction of a new vision of the city and of the region, the impulse of art and the aesthetic sensibility with regard to the conformation of the new man.
