Este artículo aborda los desafíos éticos, emocionales y metodológicos de la mediación en contextos sensibles. Se analizan situaciones como el trauma psicológico, la desigualdad estructural, los entornos de violencia y pobrera, así como el papel del mediador frente al sufrimiento humano. A través de una mirada crítica, se destaca la necesidad de complementar la empatía con la compasión, la habilidad de tomar decisiones ante dilemas éticos, y en circunstancias de alta complejidad, para promover mediaciones que protejan tanto a los mediados como al propio mediador.
This article addresses the ethical, emotional, and methodological challenges of mediation in sensitive contexts. Il analyses situations such as psychological trauma, structural inequality, environments of violence and poverty, as well as the role of the mediator in the face of human suffering. Through a critical lens, it highlights the need to complement empathy with compassion, the ability to make decisions in the face of ethical dilemmas, and in highly complex circumstances, to promote mediations that protect both the mediated parties and the mediator.
