    Nuestros tiempos se interpretan más que nunca a la luz de textos y tropos mesiánicos. Esta interpretación de los acontecimientos actuales desde una perspectiva mesiánica ha dado rienda suelta a la violencia, la conquista y la guerra, especialmente en Oriente Medio. El propósito de este ensayo será analizar críticamente estas interpretaciones mesiánicas a la luz de la filosofía de Emmanuel Levinas. ¿Es posible inaugurar tiempos mesiánicos mediante la violencia? ¿No es necesario otro enfoque? Uno que rechace la violencia y, en cambio, elija valientemente dar testimonio de la huella del infinito en el corazón mismo de la violencia y la brutalidad.     Our times are more than ever interpreted in light of messianic texts and tropes. This interpretation of current events through a messianic lens has, in turn, given free rein to violence, conquest, and war, notably in the Middle-East. The purpose of this essay will be to critically look at these messianic interpretations in light of the philosophy of Emmanuel Levinas. Can messianic times be ushered in through violence? Is not another approach necessary? One that opts out of violence and instead, courageously chooses to bear witness to the trace of the infinite at the very heart of violence and brutality. One that, like the patriarch Jacob, is capable of not only seeing but of giving voice to the trace of God in the face of the enemy, the persecutor, the oppressor—in the face of Esau
