El presente artículo trata de la relación entre la Responsabilidad y el resto de los dones que el yo ofrece al otro. Se trata de un tema que corresponde vagamente al tercer movimiento de la obra de Franz Rosenzweig, La Estrella de la Redención: la posibilidad y el modo de redimir el mundo. La pregunta que nos hacemos es hasta dónde permite la filosofía de Levinas responder a la llamada del Otro sin traicionarla; hasta dónde permite pensar dones que estén a la altura de la tarea que nos ordena el Rostro. ¿Es suficiente lo que dice Levinas a este respecto? ¿No es posible, desde sus mismos presupuestos, buscar caminos para enriquecer su propuesta? Trataremos el tema desde la perspectiva del discurso y nos centraremos exclusivamente en la obra Totalidad e Infinito
This article examines the relationship between Responsibility and the other gifts that the self offers to the Other. The topic loosely corresponds to the third movement of Franz Rosenzweig’s The Star of Redemption: the possibility and the manner of redeeming the world. The question we address is to what extent Levinas’s philosophy allows one to respond to the call of the Other without betraying it; to what extent it makes it possible to think of gifts that are commensurate with the task commanded by the Face. Is what Levinas says on this matter sufficient? Is it not possible, on the basis of his own presuppositions, to seek ways of enriching his proposal? We approach the issue from the perspective of discourse and focus exclusively on the work Totality and Infinity
