El objetivo de la investigación fue examinar si el consumo ético de productos agroecológicos en el Ecuador constituye una utopía normativa o una deuda del Estado. Desde un enfoque cualitativo, con métodos de análisis socio-jurídico y normativista, se estudió el marco constitucional y legal relacionado con la producción y el consumo sustentable. Como técnicas se utilizaron la revisión documental y el análisis de sentencias de la Corte Constitucional. Los resultados evidenciaron una brecha significativa entre el mandato constitucional y la práctica social, derivada de la escasa intervención estatal y la falta de incentivos económicos. Se concluye que el consumo ético no debe considerarse una elección individual, sino una responsabilidad colectiva sustentada en el deber estatal de garantizar alimentos de calidad a precios justos. The objective of the research was to examine whether the ethical consumption of agroecological products in Ecuador constitutes a normative utopia or a debt of the State. From a qualitative approach, with socio-legal and normative analysis methods, the constitutional and legal framework related to sustainable production and consumption was studied. Documentary review and analysis of Constitutional Court judgments were used as techniques. The results showed a significant gap between the constitutional mandate and social practice, derived from the lack of state intervention and the lack of economic incentives. It is concluded that ethical consumption should not be considered an individual choice, but a collective responsibility based on the state's duty to guarantee quality food at fair prices. The need to strengthen subsidy policies, public procurement and short marketing circuits is raised, orienting agroecology towards a model of food justice.
