Francia ha sido desde las independencias la potencia que más vínculo ha tenido con sus antiguas colonias en el Sahel Occidental. dichos vínculos se basan en acuerdos tanto militar, político como financiero. sin embargo, se han ido deteriorando en estos últimos años sobre todo después del fracaso de la Operación Barkhane, que es una intervención militar cuyo objetivo ha sido frenar el avance de os terroristas. ese fracaso ha tenido consecuencias como el crecimiento del sentimiento antifrancés, la ruptura de relaciones tanto diplomático como militar pero también se presencia la instalación de otras potencias lo que significa la pérdida de influencia de Francia.
Since independence, France has been the colonial power that has the mosts ties with its formers colonies in the Sahel Region. These ties are based on military, political or financyl agreements. However, they have been deteriorating in recent years especially after the failure of the Barkhane Operation, the military intervention that aims to stop the advance of terrorists. Accordingly, anti-french sentiment has surged ; there is the rupture of relationship, particularly at the political and military levels. Others powers have been moved into the region, which means a loss of franch influence.
