  • The author takes into consideration the recent Act n. 335 of 1995 which has deeply reformed the system of public pensions in Italy. The focus of the essay ís on four main issues: the characteris-tics of the long transitional phase; the new eligibility clauses to the pensíon benefits; the different equality conditions — between workers of different sectors, between men and women etc. —which are favoured by the new legislation; the elements of solidar-ity which are expressed by the new Act.
