Este artículo examina cómo se construye la autoridad de los científicos sociales en con-textos donde la producción de conocimiento se entrelaza con otros sistemas de conocimiento experto. A través de una autoetnografía desarrollada en una asociación del ámbito de la cooperación en Espa-ña, el texto sintetiza las distintas posiciones de los agentes durante el montaje de un informe destinado a respaldar la elaboración de una ley. El análisis de las motivaciones de los agentes en la elección de ciertos enunciados frente a otros revela que la autoridad es contextual y relacional, en vez de estar definida por características esenciales de los agentes. La etnografía evidencia que, en este campo, la disposición a producir conocimiento se entreteje con distintos motivos morales. Este hecho implica que el científico social continuamente se ve comprometido con esos fines, encarnando diferentes tex-turas de autoridad que transitan entre el ámbito científico y el formal-legal.
This article explores how the authority of social scientists is shaped within contexts where knowledge production intersects with other systems of expert knowledge. Conducted through autoethnography within an association for development cooperation in Spain, the text synthesizes the diverse positions of agents during the compilation of a report aimed at supporting the drafting of legislation. The analysis of why agents prioritize certain statements over others reveals that authority is contextual and relational, rather than being solely defined by inherent characteristics of the agents themselves. Ethnographic findings demonstrate that the moral cause driving knowledge production intertwines with a variety of moral considerations. Consequently, social scientists become committed to these objectives, embodying diverse forms of authority that fluidly transition between the scientific and formal-legal fields.
