Para entender los flujos migratorios en la UE, es importante conocer las políticas migratorias de los Estados miembros, es decir, sus leyes en esta materia, ya que estas afectan de alguna manera a los flujos migratorios en su conjunto, en el sentido de que los migrantes pueden decidir dirigirse a uno u otro Estado miembro debido a ellas. En este estudio, se analizan las políticas en materia de migración de una muestra representativa de Estados miembros de la UE, seleccionada minuciosamente, atendiendo a criterios geográficos y de volumen migratorio que soportan, con el fin de investigar y analizar la información obtenida. Estos países representan distintas localizaciones geográficas dentro del continente y tienen, a priori, distintas maneras de gestionar sus flujos migratorios. Dichos países son: España, Italia, Alemania, Francia y Hungría. Este artículo no tiene como objetivo encontrar un ganador en relación a la gestión de la migración, sino más bien tener una visión objetiva y general de qué está pasando en los diferentes puntos de la UE, arrojando luz de esta manera sobre este tema controvertido.
In order to understand migration flows in the EU, it is important to understand the migration policies of the Member States, that is, their laws on this matter, since these policies affect migration flows as a whole, in the sense that migrants may decide to go to one Member State or another due to them. This study analyses the migration policies of a carefully selected representative sample of EU Member States based on geographic criteria and the volume of migration they support, in order to research and analyse the information obtained. These countries represent different geographic locations within the continent and have, a priori, different ways of managing their migration flows. These countries are Spain, Italy, Germany, France, and Hungary. This article does not aim to find a winner in relation to migration management, but rather to obtain an objective and general view of what is happening in different parts of the EU, thus shedding light on this controversial issue.
