Con el presente trabajo pretendemos realizar un análisis histórico-crítico multidisciplinar sobre el origen y la evolución de las colaciones en el Derecho romano y su proyección al derecho intermedio, así como su recepción por el Derecho Civil de Sucesiones español actual. La colación, por su propia naturaleza y efectos que proyecta es una institución de efectos sucesorios mediante la cual se lleva a cabo una modificación en las cuotas hereditarias entre herederos forzosos, cuando alguno de ellos ha recibido una donación por parte del causante. A pesar de que el objeto de la misma es una donación que el causante da en vida, por los efectos que produce, pertenece al derecho sucesorio.
This work is intended to carry out a multidisciplinary historical-critical analysis on the origin and evolution of collations in Roman Law and its projection to intermediate law, as well as its reception by current Spanish Civil Law of Inheritance. The collation, by its very nature and effects, is an institution of succession effects through which a modification is carried out in the inheritance quotas between forced heirs, when one of them has received a donation from the deceased. Although its object is a donation that the dead person gives while alive, due to the effects it produces, it belongs to inheritance law.
