Las estrategias para el decrecimiento tanto en el Norte global como en el Sur global deben abordar las diversas formas de dominación social en las sociedades capitalistas, incluidas las relaciones dominantes entre la sociedad y la naturaleza. Los autores introducen el concepto de «modo de vida imperial» y argumentan que está indisolublemente ligado al imperativo del crecimiento capitalista. Este concepto ayuda a comprender las «tensiones ecoimperiales» actualmente en aumento y a reconocer cómo las relaciones sociales globales desiguales están indisolublemente ligadas a la vida cotidiana de las personas. Strategies for degrowth in both the global North and global South must address the various forms of social domination in capitalist societies, including the dominant relationships between society and nature. The authors introduce the concept of the ‘imperial mode of living’ and argue that it is inextricably linked to the imperative of capitalist growth. This concept helps to understand the currently rising ‘eco-imperial tensions’ and to recognize how unequal global social relations are inextricably connected to people’s everyday lives. However, it is argued that this perspective also opens pathways to think about and consider alternatives. The article concludes with some strategic implications of the considerations presented.
