While translanguaging research has gained increasing attention, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis remains scarce. This study examines the evolution of translanguaging research until March 2025, identifying key trends, thematic areas, influential authors, journals, and geographic distributions. It further examines the conceptual, intellectual, and social structures and the potential future directions of translanguaging research. Data collection was based on peer-reviewed English-language studies in the Humanities, Education, and Interdisciplinary fields indexed in Web of Science and Scopus. The study employed various metrics, including citation patterns, co-authorship networks, and keyword co-occurrence analysis. Results indicate a noteworthy surge in publications in 2024, reflecting growing scholarly interest. Key journals and leading researchers who have made significant contributions to the field were identified. The study highlights evolving themes, including decoloniality, multimodality, and the role of social media in translanguaging. These findings suggest that translanguaging is transitioning from a pedagogical tool to a comprehensive theoretical framework. Future research should explore underrepresented areas, such as translanguaging in digital environments and non-traditional educational settings. The insights can guide governments, funding agencies, and institutions in shaping investments, collaborations, and strategies. Researchers can use these findings to secure grants and publish in high-impact journals, fostering equitable and innovative advancements in translanguaging practices.
