México es recorrido por miles de migrantes, la gran mayoría son centroamericanos en busca del “sueño americano”, quienes suben a trenes de carga y exponen su vida. Sumado a este riesgo es observable la violencia que les infringen las autoridades, policías, delincuentes, crimen organizado y habitantes de diferentes comunidades. En este artículo se analizan dos causas de dicha violencia. La primera consiste en que los migrantes se han convertido en un botín económico, es decir, mercantilización de humanos; esto ocurre como resultado de la segunda causa, la construcción de una otredad, en dos sentidos, por un lado, una creciente xenofobia inducida y, por otro, la descalificación como humanos, acto que lleva a cometer abusos en su contra.
Mexico is traveled by thousands of migrants, mostly Central Americans in search of the “American dream”, many of them board freight trains, risking their lives. Added to this risk isthe violence inflicted on them by the authorities, police, criminals, organized crime and inhabitants of different communities. Two causes of said violence are analyzed. The first is that migrants have become economic loot, that is, the commodification ofhumans. This occurs as a result of the second cause, the construction of an otherness, in two senses, on the one hand, a growing xenophobia induced and on the other the disqualification as humans, an act that leads to abuses against them.
