En este trabajo se sostiene que la fiera disputa por la Memoria, Verdad y Justicia observada en Guatemala es la continuación del conflicto inaugurado en 1954. Los propugnadores del olvido, el revisionismo histórico y la impunidad son quienes han defendido el orden oligárquico restaurado en 1954. Quienes buscan la preservación del recuerdo de las violaciones a los derechos humanos, su esclarecimiento y el castigo a los responsables de dichas violaciones son continuadores de los que cuestionaron la restauración oligárquica de 1954. Este artículo sostiene que el Estado guatemalteco no ha querido absorber las demandas que hacen los familiares de las víctimas, sobrevivientes y las organizaciones defensoras de los derechos humanos. Tampoco ha querido convertir la resolución de dichas demandas en una fuente de legitimación. Por ello las victorias de la justicia transicional no legitiman al Estado, sino que confirman la veracidad de la violencia que ejerció y cuestionan la legalidad y legitimidad del orden que defendió.
This paper argues that the fierce dispute over Memory, Truth and Justice that has been observed in recentyears in Guatemala is nothing more than the continuation of the conflict that began in 1954. the advocates of oblivion, historical revisionism and impunity are the same ones who have defended the oligarchic order restored in 1954. Those who seek to preserve the memory of the atrocities, the historical clarification of human rights violations and the punishment of those responsible for the latter are followers of the who questioned the oligarchic restoration of 1954. This article also argues that the Guatemalan State has not had the will to absorb the demands made by the relatives of victims, survivors and human rights organizations. Either, the Guatemalan State has not had the will to turn the resolution of said demands into a source of legitimacy. For thatreason, the victories of transitional justice do not legitimize the State but rather confirm the veracity of the violence that it carried out and question the legality and legitimacy of the order that it defended.
