Se estudia la sociedad familiar asturiana como instrumento de protección de las mujeres en algunas de las condiciones jurídicas en las que podían estar durante el Antiguo Régimen (Baja Edad Media y Moderna), en concreto, de las mujeres domésticas (casadas, hijas y siervas) y de aquellas que han quedado fuera del ámbito familiar y precisan amparo jurídico, como son las viudas.
Asturian family society is studied as an instrument for protecting women in some of the legal conditions they could have found themselves in during the Old Regime (Late Middle Ages and the Modern Age), specifically domestic women (married women, daughters, and female servants) and those left out of the family sphere needing legal protections, such as widows.
