El artículo aborda parte del debate feminista contemporáneo sobre la definición de la categoría mujer y su relevancia para la teoría política feminista. Habida cuenta de la dificultad de la tarea, el texto analiza, en primer lugar, las tesis de aquellas autoras que sostienen la imposibilidad de definir a las mujeres como grupo y, en segundo lugar, nuevas propuestas que sugieren definirlas desde una perspectiva constructivista, reconociendo la influencia de la jerarquía de poder como condicionante de la opresión en la construcción del género. En este sentido, se presta especial atención a la aportación de Sally Haslanger. El artículo resalta la importancia de seguir trabajando en conceptos inclusivos que contribuyan a la lucha feministas por la justicia social y la igualdad.
The article addresses part of the contemporary debate on the definition of the category “women” and its relevance for feminist political theory, focusing on contributions from the English-speaking world. The text analyzes, firstly, the theses of those authors who argue that it is impossible to satisfactorily define “woman”, and secondly, new proposals that suggest a definition from social ontology, recognizing the influence of power hierarchies as a determining factor of oppression in the construction of gender. In this regard, special attention is paid to the work of Sally Haslanger. The article highlights the importance of developing inclusive concepts that support the feminist struggle for social justice and equality.
