Este artículo se centra en las distopías. En las distopías de la ficción, que cada vez prevalecen más; en situaciones distópicas del mundo real; y en la importancia crucial de todo lo que tiene que ver con la comunicación en la configuración de dichas distopías. Ejemplifica el entusiasmo por lo distópico mostrando la vinculación entre las distopías y algunos de los principales acercamientos teóricos que tratan de explicar el funcionamiento de la comunicación en el complejo escenario contemporáneo, así como por la irrupción de distopías momentáneas, como la crisis del Covid-19, el apagón eléctrico en España o la Dana de Valencia. El planteamiento del artículo puede resumirse en esta idea: vivimos en un sistema de comunicación netamente distópico. Bien sea porque la comunicación es una herramienta de control, bien sea porque los dispositivos de comunicación están descontrolados. Y a menudo -por increíble que parezca- por control y descontrol a un tiempo. El afán por controlarlo todo y la percepción de que cada vez más cosas escapan a nuestro control y el de los gobiernos y corporaciones que teóricamente intentan controlarnos.
This article focuses on dystopias. Dystopias in fiction, which are increasingly prevalent; dystopian situations in the real world; and the crucial importance of everything to do with communication in the configuration of such dystopias. It exemplifies the enthusiasm for the dystopian by showing the link between dystopias and some of the main theoretical approaches that try to explain the functioning of communication in the complex contemporary scenario, as well as by the irruption of momentary dystopias, such as the Covid-19 crisis, the electrical blackout in Spain or the Dana of Valencia. The approach of the article can be summarized in this idea: we live in a clearly dystopian communication system. Either because communication is a tool of control, or because communication devices are out of control. And often - incredible as it may seem - because of control and uncontrol at the same time. The desire to control everything and the perception that more and more things escape our control and that of the governments and corporations that theoretically try to control us.
