Quizá polémico es el adjetivo que mejor describe la historiografía que se presenta sobre una de las corrientes ideológicas que más influencia ha tenido en la región del Medio Oriente en las últimas décadas. La tesis central del libro expone las ambigüedades y contradicciones del confederalismo democrático, planteando que dicha propuesta, lejos de ser una alternativa de resolución del tema kurdo, deja intactas las estructuras coloniales que legitiman la violencia política hacia los kurdos.
The book by Kamal Soleimani and Behrooz Shojai is a dense and meticulous analysis of the central ideas of Abdullah Öcalan, leader and founder of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), as well as the impact his discourse has had in Kurdistan. Perhaps controversial is the adjective that best describes the historiography presented on one of the ideological currents that has exerted the greatest influence in the Middle East region over the past decades. The central thesis of the book exposes the ambiguities and contradictions of democratic confederalism, arguing that this proposal, far from being an alternative solution to the Kurdish question, leaves intact the colonial structures that legitimize political violence against the Kurds.
