En el presente trabajo se analizó el papel de la educación para garantizar el desarrollo sustentable, lo cual requiere de la formación integral de la persona con miras a fortalecer la protección del entorno natural. Para ello, se requiere de normatividades concurrentes y dinámicas que promuevan el desarrollo de la justicia ambiental como noción indivisible de la justicia social. Se realizó una investigación documental y se aplicó el método analítico para extraer conclusiones respecto a la transversalidad entre legislación y educación ambiental tomando al estado de Sonora como caso de estudio. En primer lugar, se revisó el papel de la sustentabilidad como manifestación del ejercicio democrático y, posteriormente, se analizó la homologación entre la legislación general en materia de educación y la legislación local del estado de Sonora, con el propósito de determinar sus alcances en relación con la sustentabilidad. Se concluyó que la legislación de Sonora favorece a la consolidación del desarrollo sustentable y sus disposiciones favorecen a la doctrina de las ciencias jurídicas ambientales.
The following paper aims the impotance of the Education in order to stablish the sustainable development, which can be possible only throug the formation towards the protection of the natural environment; Therefore, the environmental law must be take into consideration for the construction of those laws concerned about education in order to guarantee that social and environmental justice are the same, and therefore, increasse the social participation which means that the persuit of sustainability, means the effectivness of democracy itself. To achieve that goal, the paper was written under a documentary investigation followed by the analysis of legislation and environmental education, applied in the Sonora Mexican State. The work begins about the the role of sustainability in favor of democracy, and then towards the analysis of the scope between the Mexican Education General Legislation and the Sonora’s Education Local Legislation to determine its scope for the Sustainability. It was concluded that the Sonora’s legislation aims in to the sustainable development and strengthens the environmental legal sciences doctrine.
