Presentamos la primera traducción al español del texto De tempore, de Alejandro de Afrodisias. De éste enfatizamos dos aspectos de su interpretación. Por un lado, cómo Alejandro comprende el tiempo como uno y múltiple por medio de la introducción de las nociones de potencia y acto. Por otro lado, el estatus que da al ‘instante’ qua algo que, al ocurrir en la mente, hace el tiempo. Sostenemos que la combinación de ambos argumentos permite a Alejandro hacerse cargo de las paradojas relacionadas al estatus del tiempo y sus partes, y de la pregunta sobre cómo se relacionan alma y tiempo.
We present the first translation into Spanish of the text De tempore, by Alexander of Aphrodisias. We emphasise two aspects of its interpretation. On the one hand, how Alexander understands time as one and multiple through the introduction of the notions of potentiality and actuality. On the other hand, the status he gives to the ‘instant’ qua something that, by occurring in the mind, makes time. We argue that the combination of both arguments allows Alexander to deal with the paradoxes related to the status of time and its parts and the question of how soul and time are related.
