En este artículo analizaremos el devenir histórico de aquel conjunto de imaginarios sociales y relaciones entre la sociedad civil y el Estado que, durante el siglo XX, dieron forma a un particular consenso sobre los vínculos entre democracia, desarrollo y ciencia en Argentina, puesto en crisis en la actualidad. En ese sentido, el artículo apuntará, primero, a reconstruir las diversas intervenciones y debates en torno a la conceptualización de este (relativo) consenso en sede académica global, ya sea en la clave de la “cultura científica”, de los imaginarios tecno-científicos y del derecho humano a la ciencia. En segundo lugar, se realiza una síntesis histórica de las formas en que la ciencia se imaginó, discutió, organizó y legitimó en el espacio público argentino en las décadas del 50 y 60 del siglo XX. Por último, retomaremos la pregunta por el presente para observar las formas específicas que, en la post pandemia, ha adoptado la crisis de este consenso.
In this article, we analyze the historical development of a set of social imaginaries and relations between civil society and the state that, during the 20th century, shaped a particular consensus in the relation between democracy, development,and science in Argentina, a consensus which is currently in crisis. In this regard, the article will first reconstruct the various interventions and debates surrounding the conceptualization of this (relative) consensus in global academic circles, whetherin terms of “scientific culture”, “techno-scientific imaginaries”, or the “human right to science”. Second, we provide a historical synthesis of the ways in which science was imagined, discussed, organized, and legitimized in the Argentine public space during the 1950s and 1960s. Finally, we will return to the question of the present to observe the specific forms that the crisis of this consensus has taken in the post-pandemic era.
