    Se definen y analizan dos géneros editoriales ilustrados producidos en el tránsito a la Edad Moderna: las insignias y las cartas de hermandad, vin-culadas respectivamente a las bulas de indulgencia y a las instituciones asistencia-les. Dichos géneros comparten algunas características formales, pero responden a emisores y funciones diversas, por lo que su catalogación e identificación no ha sido siempre correcta. Se ofrece además un primer censo de ejemplos localizados en instituciones patrimoniales españolas.

    Two illustrated editorial genres produced in the transition to the Modern Age are defined and analysed: insignias and letters of brotherhood, res-pectively associated with indulgence bulls and charitable institutions. These genres share some formal characteristics, but they correspond to different issuers and functions, so that their identification and cataloguing has not always been correct. It also offers a first census of examples located in Spanish heritage institutions.
