El estudio sobre las casas del Cabildo o Ayuntamientos medie-vales en el reino de Castilla adolece de una monografía compilatoria. Todavía no conocemos en profundidad sus primitivas estancias, emplazamientos habituales y tipologías constructivas, elementos que nos podrían permitir identificar modelos recurrentes en distintas ciudades hispanas. En este trabajo se realiza una lectura crítica sobre las fuentes documentales de la casa del Cabildo de Jerez de la Fronte-ra durante el siglo XV y primeras décadas del XVI con el propósito de identificar su tipología arquitectónica y urbanística. Para establecer una correcta interpreta-ción del caso jerezano, se evalúan asimismo ejemplos bien documentados en el reino de Castilla. La conclusión del trabajo presenta un modelo recurrente para los consistorios castellanos del Cuatrocientos, anteriores a la normativa impuesta por las Cortes de Toledo de 1480.
The study of medieval council houses or town halls in the king-dom of Castile lacks a compilation book. We still do not know in depth their primitive rooms, usual locations and constructive typologies, elements that could allow us to identify recurrent models in different Hispanic cities. In this work, a critical reading of the documentary sources of the Cabildo house in Jerez de la Frontera during the 15th century and the first decades of the 16th century is carried out with the purpose of identifying its architectural and urban typology. In order to establish a correct interpretation of the Jerez case, well-documented examples in the kingdom of Castile are evaluated as well. The conclusion of the work presents a recurrent model for the Castilian consistories of the 15th century, prior to the regulations imposed by the Cortes of Toledo in 1480.
