El lobo ibérico (Canis lupus signatus) es un depredador clave para los ecosistemas de la Península Ibérica, pero su conservación enfrenta conflictos históricos con la ganadería y presiones normativas. La Directiva (UE) 2025/1237 reclasifica al lobo de protección estricta a gestión regulada, generando incertidumbre jurídica, mientras que en España se intenta desprotegerlo mediante reformas legales que vulneran el LESPRE. La especie no está en estado de conservación favorable, y los daños a la ganadería deben gestionarse mediante medidas preventivas no letales. La única solución sostenible es garantizar su protección plena basada en criterios científicos, respetando la integridad ecológica y normativa
The Iberian wolf (Canis lupus signatus) is a key predator for the ecosystems of the Iberian Peninsula, but its conservation faces historical conflicts with livestock farming and regulatory pressures. Directive (EU) 2025/1237 reclassifies the wolf from strict protection to regulated management, creating legal uncertainty, while in Spain there are attempts to remove its protection through legal reforms that undermine the LESPRE.
The species is not in a favorable conservation status, and livestock damages should be managed through nonlethal preventive measures. The only sustainable solution is to guarantee its full protection based on scientific criteria, respecting both ecological and legal integrity
