El presente trabajo defiende que existe un modo de libertad propio de las masas, justificable desde las aportaciones de Elias Canetti, y que este puede explicarse mediante la clasificación de las nociones de libertad llevada a cabo por Isaiah Berlin. En primer lugar, se realiza una presentación de los conceptos centrales del trabajo; en segundo lugar, se ofrece una lectura interpretativa del ensayo de Berlin «Two concepts of liberty»; en tercer lugar, se justifica que la libertad aparece como propiedad de la masa canettiana en Masa y poder; en último lugar, se argumenta que es pertinente e iluminador considerar una «libertad de las masas» como tercer modo de libertad positiva de forma coherente con la clasificación de Berlin.
The present paper will argue that there is such a thing as a liberty of crowds, according to Elias Canetti’s work, and that it can be explained in conformity with the classification of the notions of freedom proposed by Isaiah Berlin. Firstly, the central concepts of the paper will be presented; secondly, an interpretation of the development of the berlinian concepts of freedom in Two Concepts of Liberty will be offered and justified; thirdly, it will be shown that liberty is a relevant characteristic of canettian crowds according to Crowds and Power; finally, it will be argued that it is appropriate and enlightening to consider a «liberty of crowds» as a third kind of positive liberty in coherence with Berlin’s classification.
