Han pasado casi veinte años desde que el 12 de septiembre de 2006 Joseph Ratzinger–Benedicto XVI pronunció en la Universidad de Ratisbona (Alemania), ante los representantes del mundo de la ciencia, una célebre conferencia sobre el tema de la relación entre fe y razón, entre monoteísmo y violencia. Desde entonces, el Discurso de Ratisbona también ha sido objeto de comentarios a menudo contradictorios y enfrentados. La reflexión que se desarrolla aquí solo pretende ofrecer algunas sugerencias interpretativas que ayuden a considerar hasta qué punto la lección ratzingeriana sigue siendo relevante para la época actual y abre perspectivas intelectuales, de reflexión, hacia el futuro.
It was nearly twenty years ago when Joseph Ratzinger, who later became Benedict XVI, delivered a notable lecture at the University of Regensburg in Germany on September 12, 2006, in front of a distinguished audience of many representatives from the scientific community. He thoughtfully explored the relationship between faith and reason and the significant connections between monotheism and violence. Since then, the Regensburg Lecture has also been the subject of often contradictory and conflicting commentaries. The reflection presented offers interpretative suggestions that consider the relevance of the Ratzingerian lesson for the present time and explore intellectual perspectives for the future.
