Uno de los ámbitos más importantes de la economía desde el punto de vista geoestratégico se encuentra en la negociación de los Tratados de Libre Comercio (TLC), a cuya virtud las partes se desarman de aranceles para dar paso a un intercambio de bienes y servicios que no han de pagar tarifas cuando atraviesan las fronteras para venderse o prestarse en el otro u otros países. Cuando hablamos de esos TLC al nivel de un continente o de varios, la importancia asume cotas más elevadas aún. En este análisis de trata de conocer, ante todo, la regulación de la Seguridad Social en esos TLC continentales, de los que se han tomado los cuatro ejemplos más sobresalientes, y detectar gracias a ello hasta qué punto se admite el libre juego de los sistemas nacionales de Protección Social, o se les ponen cortapisas, o, en fin, se les sustituye por un sistema único para todos los países firmantes.
One of the most important areas of the economy from a geostrategic point of view is the negotiation of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), whereby the parties remove tariffs to allow the exchange of goods and services that are not subject to tariffs when they cross borders to be sold or provided in other countries. When we talk about these FTAs at the level of a continent or several continents, their importance becomes even greater. This analysis seeks, first and foremost, to understand the regulation of social security in these continental FTAs, from which the four most notable examples have been taken, and to identify the extent to which the free play of Social Protection national systems is allowed, or whether restrictions are placed on them, or whether they are replaced by one single system for all signatory countries.
