    El ensayo compara los proyectos historiográficos de Edward P. Thompson y de Ranajit Guha. El primero, máximo exponente de la Historia desde Abajo; el segundo, líder de los Estudios Subalternos. La comparación hace eje en cinco puntos: a) los sujetos de la historia; b) sus posiciones frente a la historiografía existente; c) el tratamiento de fuentes, d) sus influencias intelectuales; y e) las claves metodológicas y de escritura. Al comienzo, el lector puede encontrar algunas observaciones sobre la influencia que ambos historiadores ejercieron en la escritura de mi libro Paisanos itinerantes (2003; 2018).

    This essay compares Edward P. Thompson’s and Ranajit Guha’s historiographical projects. The former was the leading exponent of the “History from Bellow”; while the latter was the founder of the Subaltern Studies group. My comparison focuses on five points: a) the agents of history; b) their positions vis-á-vis existing historiography; c) their treatment of sources; d) the intellectual influences they acknowledge; and e) the keys to understanding their methodology and writing. At the beginning of the essay, the reader can find some observations about the influences these two authors exerted in the writing of my book Wandering Paysanos (2003: 2018).
