El texto describe una lectura posible, así como la utilización de los aportes de Edward. P. Thompson para reflexionar los vínculos entre prácticas judiciales, normativas, saberes y costumbres en la administración de justicia letrada en lo criminal en el espacio sur de la provincia de Buenos Aires durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX. Los aportes de E. P. Thompson permitieron apelar a ciertas categorías que, aunque formuladas para una sociedad con diferencias sustanciales respecto de la bonaerense, permitieron enriquecer el análisis sobre las formas en la que se administraba una justicia organizada para controlar a los habitantes pobres del espacio rural. Nuestro interés reside en abordar la conformación y el uso de un conjunto de saberes que fueron utilizados por diversas personas y agentes en sede judicial. Tales argumentos fueron esgrimidos tanto para justificar acciones como fundamentar decisiones en el ámbito judicial por parte de legos y letrados.
The text describes a possible reading, as well as the use of the contributions of Edward P. Thompson to reflect on the links between judicial practices, regulations, knowledge and customs in the administration of legal criminal justice in the southern area of the province of Buenos Aires during the second half of the 19th century. The contributions of E. P. Thompson made it possible to appeal to certain categories that, although formulated for a society with substantial differences from that of Buenos Aires, allowed us to enrich the analysis of the ways in which organized justice was administered to control the poor inhabitants of rural areas.
Our interest lies in addressing the formation and use of a set of knowledge that was used by various people and agents in court. Such arguments were put forward both to justify actions and to support decisions in the judicial field by laymen and lawyers.
