La obra de Thompson fue muy influyente y recibió distintas interpretaciones. Este artículo explora, en primer lugar, cómo fue descubrir a Thompson a destiempo en los años 90. Además, comenta sobre los cambios de interpretación de su obra en la historiografía en los años 80 cuando se dio una nueva importancia al lenguaje en la investigación histórica y luego en el siglo XXI con el desarrollo de la perspectiva global. Por último, se ocupa del impacto desparejo de la producción de Thompson en Argentina. Por ejemplo, los trabajos sobre lo judicial tuvieron más influencia entre quienes hacen historia colonial y de la primera parte del siglo XIX, mientras que La formación… fue la obra de referencia para quienes investigaron la historia de la clase obrera argentina. Para el presente y el futuro es primordial sostener la mirada sobre la relación entre acción y estructura de la forma de trabajo de Thompson.
Thompson’s work was very influential and received different interpretations. This article explores, in the first place, the experience of discovering Thompson at mistime in the 90’s. Moreover, it comments on the changes of interpretation of his work in the historiography during the ‘80s when there was a new importance of language in the historical investigation, and later in the 21st Century with the expansion of the global perspective. Lastly, this article focuses on the uneven impact of Thompson’s production in Argentina. For instance, the works about the judicial had more influence between the ones that examined colonial history and the first part of the 19th Century, while The making… was the work of reference for whom investigated the history of the Argentine working class. For the present and future, it is essential to maintain a view of the relation between action and structure of Thompson’s form of work.
