Esta intervención busca ilustrar, de manera testimonial, el advenimiento de E. P. Thompson a la Argentina en el contexto de la noche de la dictadura y su impacto en un grupo de historiadores argentinos que conformamos el Programa de estudios de historia económica y social americana (PEHESA). Sobre todo, Thompson trajo nuevas formas de mirar e interrogar el pasado, haciendo foco en los sujetos sociales y en la acción individual y colectiva. En este sentido, los parámetros propuestos por Thompson, especialmente el entendimiento de las relaciones entre los de arriba y los de abajo como un mecanismo tanto de resistencia como de control, también impactaron sobre el estudio de la vida política del pasado en Argentina. Así, la obra de Thompson inspiró nuestras investigaciones.
This intervention seeks to illustrate, in a testimonial way, the advent of E. P. Thompson to Argentina in the context of the night of the dictatorship and his impact in a group of Argentine historians that formed the Study program of economic and social American history (PEHESA). Above all, Thompson brought new forms of viewing and interrogating the past, focusing on social subjects and both the individual and collective action. In this sense, the parameters proposed by E. P. Thompson, especially the understanding of the relationships between those above and those below as a mechanism of both resistance and control, also impacted on the study of the political life of the past in Argentina. Thereby, Thompson’s work inspired our investigations.
