    Following on from the conceptual framework developed by the American political scientist Elinor Ostrom, this article tries to compare the concepts of common goods and public services. It proposes seeing them as complementary rather than as being in opposition. On the one hand, Ostrom’s thesis does not eliminate the question of property, which is still to be resolved. On the other hand, the exacerbation of social, ecological, climatic, and health crises makes it necessary to promote a public space not subject to the laws of the market.

    À la suite de la problématique développée par la politiste américaine Elinor Ostrom, cet article essaie de comparer les concepts de biens communs et de services publics. Il propose de voir plutôt une complémentarité qu’une opposition entre eux. D’une part, la thèse d’Ostrom ne supprime pas la question de la propriété toujours à résoudre. D’autre part, l’exacerbation des crises, sociale, écologique, climatique, sanitaire, rend nécessaire la promotion d’un espace public non soumis aux lois du marché.
