Este trabajo pretende rescatar la historia del balneario de Santa Teresa, que tuvo su origen en la antigua fuente del Hambre o fuente de Revenga, en Martiherrero (Ávila). El manantial ha sido conocido desde tiempos remotos y descubierto a nivel científico en 1894, creando grandes expectativas en cuanto a las propiedades curativas de sus aguas mineromedicinales. Por este hecho fueron declaradas de utilidad pública y el balneario fue inaugurado en 1896. Fruto de una exhaustiva revisión bibliográfica, junto con una amplia investigación en archivos, entenderemos cuales fueron las razones para su buena reputación, y como se vería incrementada en los primeros años del siglo XX a causa de la radiactividad de las aguas, aunque con perspectivas demasiado halagüeñas en cuanto a sus virtudes curativas. El balneario tuvo una notable repercusión en la vida social y cultural abulense. Tras el estallido de la Guerra Civil, ha tenido diferentes usos, siendo desde hace décadas hasta la actualidad residencia de un centro de educación especial.
This work aims to recover the history of the Santa Teresa spa, which had its origin in the old Hunger or Revenga Fountain (Fuente del Hambre o de Revenga), located in Martiherrero (Ávila). The spring is known since time immemorial but was scientifically discovered in 1894, creating great expectations regarding its curative properties due to mineral-medicinal waters. This made it to be declared of public interest and the spa was inaugurated in 1896. As a result of an exhaustive bibliographical review, together with an extensive research in archives, we will understand which were the reasons for its good reputation and how it increased at the beginning of the 20th century because of the radioactivity of its waters, although it had excessively flattering perspectives in terms of its curative virtues. The spa had a notable impact in Avila´s social and cultural life. After the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War the spa has had different uses, and during the last decades to the present it has been a special education center residence
