El artículo procede a realizar un estudio de una ciudad pequeña, periférica y fronteriza situada en el oeste de Castilla y León, como es Ciudad Rodrigo. Para ello, tras analizar referencias que se consideran importantes en el entendimiento de la evolución y estructura urbanas de este núcleo, como son las claves naturales e históricas, se procede seguidamente a centrarse, por un lado, en el desarrollo y la configuración de la ciudad histórica o intramuros y, por otro, en la expansión y conformación de la ciudad moderna, abordando su crecimiento y su transformación.
The article studies a small, peripheral and border city located in the west of Castilla y León (Spain), such as Ciudad Rodrigo. To this end, after analysing references that are considered important in the understanding of the urban evolution and structure of this nucleus, such as the natural and historical keys, we then proceed to focus, on the one hand, on the development and configuration of the historic or intramural city and, on the other, on the expansion and conformation of the modern city. addressing its growth and transformation.
