Este artículo analiza cualitativamente predicados verbales atribuidos a mujeres, también a hombres y parejas, extraídos de artículos de El País sobre reproducción asistida y de textos divulgativos del corpus Neotermed. El análisis tiene por objeto profundizar en cuestiones relevantes en materia de reproducción asistida tales como: la centralidad de la mujer en los procesos y la genericidad de las técnicas, el papel de esas técnicas en el “empoderamiento” de las mujeres, la implicación de “la pareja” y la afectación física y emocional de hombres y mujeres en los procesos de reproducción asistida, sus vivencias de la infertilidad, la influencia que puede tener en ello la pervivencia de un vínculo cultural entre mujer y maternidad. Los resultados del análisis reflejan un panorama complejo, con algunas diferencias entre la visión que ofrecen los textos periodísticos sobre tales cuestiones y la que ofrecen las clínicas.
This article analyzes, from a qualitative perspective, verbal predicates attributed to women, as well as to men and couples, taken from articles in El País on assisted reproduction and from informative texts in the Neotermed corpus. The aim of the analysis is to delve into relevant issues concerning assisted reproduction, such as: the centrality of women in the processes and the gendered nature of the techniques, the role of these techniques in “empowering” women, the involvement of “the couple” and the physical and emotional impact of both men and women during reproduction processes, their experiences of infertility, the influence that the persistence of a cultural link between women and motherhood may have on this. The results of the analysis reflect a complex view of this matter, with same differences between the perspective offered by journalistic text on these questions and the one provided by clinics.
