La problemática de la deuda soberana ha atravesado la historia latinoamericana reciente,dando lugar a ideas y conceptualizaciones tendientes a comprender el fenómeno y sudinámica, así como a iniciativas y estrategias que buscaron apuntalar la posición de los paísesdeudores en las crisis. Aunque con dificultades y discontinuidades, la región ha sidoproductora de experiencias críticas que marcaron el debate y sirven de precedentes, tanto parael análisis de las reestructuraciones como para la búsqueda de alternativas a las reglasimperantes en el escenario financiero internacional. Este trabajo tiene por objetivo pasarrevista a algunos de los más notorios aportes intelectuales y políticos surgidos en la regióndurante las últimas décadas. Iniciándose con la moratoria generalizada en los ‘80 y llegando aexperiencias más contemporáneas, como las de Argentina y Ecuador durante la primeradécada del siglo XXI, se identifican lo que creemos son contribuciones relevantes desdeAmérica Latina para el pensamiento y la acción sobre esta temática en los países endesarrollo
The issue of sovereign debt has been at the heart of recent Latin American history, giving riseto ideas and conceptualizations aimed at understanding the phenomenon and its dynamics, as well as initiatives and strategies that sought to shore up the position of debtor countries incrises. Although with difficulties and discontinuities, the region has produced experiencesthat marked the debate and served as precedents, both for the analysis of restructuring and thesearch for alternatives to the prevailing rules of the international financial scenario. Thispaper aims to review some of the most notorious intellectual and political contributions thathave emerged in the region in recent decades. Starting with the generalized moratorium in the1980s and moving on to more contemporary experiences, such as those of Argentina andEcuador during the first decade of the 21st century, it identifies what we believe to berelevant contributions from Latin America to thinking and action on this issue in developingcountries
