Ce texte interroge l’actualité de l’honneur en examinant les théories sociales contemporaines sur son lien avec la reconnaissance. Au-delà de son obsolescence, l’honneur, en tant que composante de l’identité sociale liée à l’estime, constitue un précieux outil pour analyser les relations et les formes de domination dans une société formellement égalitaire, mais aussi pour penser l’émancipation.
The article questions the topicality of the notion of honour by examining what contemporary social theories have to say about its relation to gratitude. Beyond its obsolescence, honour as a component of social identity linked to respect is a precious tool to analyse relationships and forms of domination in a formally equalitarian society and to think about emancipation.
